When I wanted to buy an iPhone, one of my conditions was that it should be unlocked.
I travel a lot between countries, and in order to save money on the cell phone bills, I have several providers, one for each country.
This would never work out with a "normal" iPhone, since it is tied to a special agreement with different operators for each country.
So I chose to buy an unlocked iPhone, since I'm not that technically minded that I can do it myself. It didn't even cost extra, because I found my iPhone on eBay.
Do a search for unlocked iPhone - you should have a lot to choose between. Just have a look below, if something pleases you. You can click on an offer and have your unlocked iPhone in your hand a few days later.

Cheap iPhone
Apple is not likely make you a nice price on your iPhone saying: "You're a nice person. We will give you a discount." So if you want to get a cheap unlocked iPhone, and who won't, where should you go?
Well, if Apple won't sell it cheaper, get it from somebody who will.
There is a place on the Internet, where people gather to buy and sell stuff. You can find rare things, used things, new things, odd things... all kind of things, actually, and of course also iPhones, some even cheap. This place is an online auction place, yes, you know it, it's eBay.
Look out for a good bargain - I'm sure you can find the cheap iPhone you are looking for.

iPhone Deals
We all like to go a good deal, and when it comes to finding an iPhone to a reasonable price, the best place make a good deal is not at the phone house.
When I want to find a product to a cheaper price, I always do a search on the Internet, and quite often I end up at eBay. It's really hard to beat when it comes to making a good deal.
What I really like about eBay is that you can find both unlocked and jailbroken iPhones, but new and slightly used ones. If you are not that technically minded (I'm not), it's great to get the iPhone ready to use.
You might not want an unlocked one. I do. I prefer to choose my mobile supplier myself. And as for the jailbroken thing it gives me the freedom to use other apps than what I can get at Apples App Store. Nice

So where do you go to find an unlocked iPhone?
As always, the Internet is your friend, and my favourite place to look for items like that is eBay. Rare things, unlocked iPhones... That's the place to go.
And you can actually do a real good bargain there. I know I've done so. I wouldn't know how to unlock an iPhone myself, so I just searched for unlocked iPhones and found several nice ones on eBay. Just look below here - I bet you can find one too. Some are new, some have been used in only a short while.

Used iPhone
If your budget doesn't allow you to get a sparkling new iPhone, why not go for a used one? You can actually save a lot of money and get a nice used iPhone, just as good as a new one.
Even the older model, the 2G iPhone, has it's advantages like e.g. a better autonomy.
One of my friends actually went for a used iPhone, but she wanted it unlocked, and she couldn't find any at the ordinary phone stores. I told her to look on eBay, which is in fact the obvious place to look for a used unlocked iPhone. There would normally be a lot of different onces to choose from. Some has extra accesories, some hasn't.
I would go for one where you can see an image of the used iPhone, and I would look at the seller too, to see his reputation. Close to 100%? Then I feel absolutely safe.

New iPhone
I don't know about you, but I hate it when other decides for me and that goes for phone suppliers too. I wanted a new iPhone, but I wanted it to be unlocked.
In my opinion it was really stupid of Apple to force users to have one specific phone supplier.
What if you travel a lot? Or move to another country? Your new iPhone will be useless and blocked, then.
So I definately opt for a new unlocked iPhone, and where else to get it than eBay?
To my happy surprise there were several to choose from, both unlocked and jailbroken. And to very reasonable prices, too.
